‘Produce two interactive experiences to be displayed at Geneva's Musee D'Art et D'Histoire, the location for the launch of Switzerland’s new Hermés flagship store.’
The launch event combined the concept of hand-craft meets technology, creating a memorable experience that would reflect the brands heritage in a dynamic setting.
Signal | Noise created separate experiences for two exhibition halls: an iPad app and an interactive object that allowed visitors to control strips of light.
The latter was developed using Arduino boards to send and receive binary messages, combining with LED technology and custom-built software to create a touch-operated digital display.
Guests arriving in the first room were invited to leave their handprint. When they touched the iPad, it triggered a stylised animated sequence that ‘scanned’ their palm and projected it onto the wall as part of a composite Hermés logo.
For the second room, we designed and built a six metre monolith, interwoven with infra-red sensors and LEDs to symbolise ‘digital stiches’. Guests could create the strips of light with gestures that also controlled large projections of iconic Hermés images in the space.
