We’re delighted to announce that we’re holding another exhibition this year following on from the success of last year’s ‘Less than a Second.’
This year – excitingly – we’ve partnered with London Design Festival so the exhibition will be in collaboration with the festival.
We’ve chosen the theme ‘The Art of the Algorithm’ to explore the invisible phenomenon that is becoming more and more powerful in the modern world. Almost every part of our lives, from medicine to music, is now shaped, informed or controlled in some way by algorithms. They are so important but remain invisible and impenetrable to all but a few.
We’ll be curating a selection of static, motion and interactive visualisations which explain how algorithms work and reveal the hidden systems and processes that make the modern world tick.
For this exhibition we want to open up the brief so that young, up-and-coming designers are given the chance to show off their work to the festival-goers.
We would like to invite students and new designers to submit a proposal for a piece using this year’s theme. Sources of data for the visualisation could be taken from the fields of business, science, health, sport or anything else that fits with the theme. Please supply an explanation of your concept that is no longer than 500 words and a link to examples of your work. The final piece will need to work to the dimensions of A0.
Entries will be judged by the partners at Signal Noise and the winning piece will be exhibited at the event. The designer will also be offered a paid internship with the team at Signal Noise.
