Deceptonomics

Over the last decade, malicious software has become a huge digital threat.

‘Malware’ describes many forms of hostile software including viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, and hacktools, and at first these early infectious programs were written as experiments or pranks.

This visualisation is based on 25 years of data from online security giant Symantec. It maps every detected threat, highlighting the frequency of attacks and how they deceive us to exploit our private information.
